Marvin Eugene Bartle

Marvin Eugene Bartle of St. James, Missouri passed away Sunday, April 5, 2026 at Steelville Senior Living in Steelville, Missouri. He was 65 years of age.

Marvin, the son of Jack Eugene and Lola Mae (Happel) Bartle, was born April 3, 1961 in Rolla, Missouri. He was united in marriage to Debbie Nichols on September 7, 1996 at Flag Springs Church in St. James, Missouri.

He is survived by his loving wife, Debbie of the home, brother: Scott Bartle and wife Kim, sisters-in-law: Mary Rinehart and husband Robert, Donna Bock and husband Larry, and Edna Dillon all of St. James, Missouri; brother-in-law, Bobby Nichols and wife, Leatta of Rolla, Missouri; many nephews and nieces as well as great nieces and great nephews. Marvin also leaves behind, aunts, uncles, cousins and dear friends that will cherish his life as they share the many memories throughout the years. Marvin's friendship was valued by so many throughout our community.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Lola; his brother-in-law, Terry Dillon; and his niece, Tracie Nichols.

Marvin graduated from John F. High School in 1979. During his high school years, he began working for Morelock Distributing in 1977. He continued working there for many years with his loyal friend and boss Doyle, who then retired and sold the business in 1996. Over the 19 years, he built a lasting friendship with his boss, Doyle Morelock, as well as meeting the love of his life Debbie, while delivering supplies to the local Pump Handle. He and Debbie became friends, and their friendship evolved into a lifelong relationship of love and support. After Doyle retired and closed his distributorship, Marvin joined his dad and brother in the family business, Jack Bartle Plumbing. He continued working at Jack Bartle Plumbing until his health forced him to retire in 2024. Three years ago, Marvin faced one of his biggest challenges in his life when he was diagnosed with cancer. He fought the battle courageously with Debbie at his side. Debbie was strong and steadfast as she supported, loved, and cared for him to help him get through every treatment while encouraging him to stay strong and continue the battle. He and Debbie loved living on their farm in the neighborhood where Marvin grew up. He enjoyed raising cattle and his daily rides in his utv with his sidekicks, Max and Sadie. His dogs were never far behind; they loved the adventures and the treats.

Marvin was an outdoorsman. He enjoyed the sunrises and the early morning sounds that helped him start each day. He loved everything about hunting. One of Marvins greatest joys was planning each deer season with his nephews Noah, Luke, Micah, and Jonah. They enjoyed stocking and preparing the red neck with the best snacks and finding the best blind sites for each season. They also enjoyed sharing strategies to land the biggest deer. Everyone always looked forward to the call from Marvin and the boys stating, “meats on the ground”. He cherished the early years helping his nephews learn the basics of fishing, hunting, and celebrating the landing of each deer taken year after year. Aside from his hunting passion, friends knew to visit Ray’s Tire each morning which was Marvins first stop and happy moment of the day. They looked forward to catching up on the latest jokes, stories, and local happenings. Many of those to never be forgotten. The friendships that were shared with Marvin will also never be forgotten.
