IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Louis E.
Gorman
March 26, 1935 – December 15, 2025
Louis E. Gorman, 90, of St. James, Missouri, peacefully passed away at his home on December 15, 2025. Born on March 26, 1935, in Rosati, Missouri, Louis was the beloved son of the late Eddie and Margaret Tessaro Gorman.
Louis' life was deeply rooted in the community he cherished. He was united in marriage to Irene Fanger on April 9, 1960, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Rosati, a place that held special significance throughout his life. Together, they built a loving family that included sons Wayne (and wife Terri) of Raymore, Missouri, and John (and wife Vicki) of St. James. He was a proud grandfather to Cassandra Gorman of Wilmington, North Carolina; Caryn Southard (and husband Arthur) of St. James; and Caitlyn Gorman of Bismark, North Dakota.
A dedicated veteran, Louis served bravely with the 23rd Combat Engineers, where he notably drove a truck transporting explosives. His commitment to fellow veterans extended beyond his service; he was a charter member of the V.F.W. in St. James and had a 37-year career with the St. James Utilities. He served on the Board of the Missouri Veterans Home in St. James and contributed to his community as a member of the St. James Utilities Board and Cemetery Board.
An active member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Louis proudly participated in the Knights of Columbus, often giving his time to support community events like fish fries and bingo. He cherished the outdoors, spending countless hours fishing on the Osage River and Truman Lake, with special fondness for his Canada fishing trips. Louis also enjoyed deer, squirrel, and Iowa pheasant hunting and was known to relish playing cards and socializing with friends during their "Coffee with the Boys" gatherings at McDonald's and Burger King, where many of the world's problems were thoughtfully discussed.
Louis is survived by his wife, Irene; sons Wayne and John; brother Ruddy Gorman of St. James; sisters Vera Piazza of Lake Ozark, Joyce Ambrose and Sharon Marcus (and husband Mike) of St. James; sister-in-law Nancy Gorman; and beloved grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Roy Gorman, and brothers-in-law George Piazza and Jim Ambrose.
Louis E. Gorman's life was one of devotion—to his family, his faith, his community, and his country. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him.
