Lewis L.(Buck) Shackelford of St. James, Mo., was born on September 10, 1931 in Marceline, Mo. to the late Earnest and Violet Marie (Dorrel) Shackelford. Lewis Shackelford entered into rest on January 6, 2011. Lewis was 79 years of age.

Buck was life-long resident of Missouri. He and his wife Katherine were owners and operators of Buck's Lodge canoe rental in St. James for thirty years. Buck also worked for the James Foundation and St. James Public Schools. He was affiliated with the St. James JayCee's and hosted their meetings at the lodge for many years. He served in United States Army. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend. Buck loved to read, he loved history, westerns and Sunday Football and sports. Most of all he loved his grandchildren.

Buck Shackelford is survived by his wife: Katherine (Gargus) Shackelford of St. James, Missouri; three sons: Ernest Shackelford of Urbana, Missouri; Dale Shackelford of St. James, Missouri; and Lewis (Tiger) Shackelford and wife Mary of Jefferson City, Missouri; two daughters: Janet Gruver and husband Jimmy of St. James, Missouri; and Patricia Delaschmitt of Stover, Missouri; Grandchildren: Alicia Ventura, Adam Shackelford, Sara and Steve Green, Katie Shackelford, Blake Shackelford, Amy and David Parrott, Josh and Melissa Gruver, Emily Gruver, Elizabeth Gruver, Megan Shackelford, Brandon Shackelford, Chelsea White, William White and Shane Faulkner; eleven great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Preceding Buck Shackelford in death is his parents: Earnest and Violet Marie (Dorrel) Shackelford and one daughter: Susan Diane Shackelford and Ernestine Shackelford, James Shackelford; and Donna Jean Murry.

Services
Visitation for Buck Shackelford will be on Monday, January 10, 2011 from 3 - 8 PM at the Jones Funeral Home in St. James, Missouri.

Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, January 11, 2011 at 11 AM at the Jones Funeral Home Chapel in St. James, Missouri with Jessie Parrott and Alex Anderson officiating. Burial will be in the Blackwater Cemetery in Holden, Missouri.

Memorials may be given to the Epilepsy Foundation.
