(Smallwood) Licklider
December 22, 1937 – December 16, 2025
Letty Loree Licklider of St. James, Missouri, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, at Silverstone Nursing Home in Rolla, Missouri, at the age of 87.
Born on December 22, 1937, in St. James, Missouri, Letty was the beloved daughter of the late Charles and Alma Swyers Smallwood. She was united in marriage to Harold Licklider in 1956 at the St. James Christian Church.
Letty is lovingly remembered by her son, Mike Licklider of St. James, and her daughter, Kelly Bowen, and husband Jim of St. James. She is also survived by her brother, Jim Smallwood of St. James; four cherished grandchildren—Jamie, Jennifer, Brandon, and Jordan—and six great-grandchildren—Nodeia, Zailee, Ella, Eliot, Owen, and Tegan.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her devoted husband Harold, her son Skip Licklider, who passed away in 1992, daughter-in-law Marla, an infant brother Louie, and two sisters, Betty Williams and Evelyn Welker.
Letty's love for her family, especially her grandchildren, was the heart of her life. She was deeply involved in their activities, creating many journals and scrapbooks that captured precious memories. In her younger years, Letty enjoyed square dancing and was a familiar face at many local dances. Professionally, she worked as a secretary at Switzer's and devoted over ten years as a secretary at the St. James Christian Church. Her warm spirit and friendly nature fostered lasting friendships; she often gathered with friends to play pinochle.
Letty Licklider's life was a testament to love, dedication, and community. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her, but her memory will live on through her family and the many lives she touched.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at 9:00 a.m., at the Jones Funeral Home in St. James, Missouri.
