Larry G.
Asbury
Oct 18, 1968 — Sep 13, 2026
St. James, Missouri
Larry G. Asbury, of St. James, Missouri, passed away peacefully on September 13, 2026, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri, after a long battle with cancer. He was 57. Born on October 18, 1968, in St. Louis, Missouri, Larry lived with a wide-open heart and a deep love for the people around him.
For many years, Larry worked as a factory worker. He attended high school and went on to build a life marked not by pretense, but by loyalty, humor, and a steady devotion to family and friends. He was tenderhearted by nature. If he became upset, it was never long before he returned with an apology. He loved everyone, wanted to make a friend of everyone he met, and would do anything for anyone.
Larry found joy in simple, memorable pleasures and in the outdoors he loved so much. He enjoyed playing darts with his buddies having competitive games that were as much about friendship as they were about winning. He loved to hunt and fish, and no weather was too cold for an early morning hunt, even if it meant sleeping in a tent the night before with snow on the ground. He and Tracey often went camping in rough weather, sharing those hard-earned adventures together. One story that stayed with those who knew him was the time Danny and him shot a deer that his sister, Lazet, had made friends with; Larry was proud of the hunt, while Lazet was not, and he had to drag the deer out of sight before dressing it. He also loved being on the Meramec River, fishing and spending time outdoors. Even his fondness for McDonald’s biscuits and gravy became part of the stories people smiled to remember; on one trip home from a Florida vacation, he and Tracey stopped at McDonald’s 12 times.
Among Larry’s greatest joys were his nephews and neice who meant the world to him and whom he regarded as his own kids. The highlight of his day was often getting to play Xbox, especially with Josh, Danny, Zachary and Benjamin. Sunday football game get togethers with his nephews and all there friends with countless hours of laughter. His affection for family showed itself in countless ways, large and small, and those closest to him knew the depth of his care.
He is survived by his fiancée, Tracey Creswell of St. James, Missouri, who shared in so many of his adventures and everyday joys; by his brother, Tracy Miller; and by his sister, Lazet Kent of St. James, Missouri, who was very close to her brother and cared so deeply for him. He also leaves behind Joshua, his nephew, who was among the nieces and nephews Larry cherished as his own; Christa and her son, Ezra, Larry’s great-nephew, who had him completely wrapped around his finger; and Danny Miller, Zackary Kent, Benjamin Kent, Dalton Miller, Joey Asbury, and Karly Asbury, each of whom held a place in his life and in his heart. His brothers by choice Mark Libhart and Danny Kent who held a special place in his life.
Larry was preceded in death by his father, Larry Asbury; his mother, Linda Lee Lewis Asbury; and his brother, Jerry Asbury.
Larry will be remembered for his competitive laugh around the dartboard, for cold mornings spent hunting and quiet hours spent fishing, for his eagerness to turn strangers into friends, and for the tenderness that always brought him back to the people he loved. His life was woven from affection, mischief, loyalty, and the kind of generosity that leaves a lasting mark. Those who knew him will carry his memory with them in campfire stories, riverbank mornings, shared games, and the enduring warmth of his love.
