Kathleen was a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend. She enjoyed visiting with friends and neighbors. She was a joy to listen to as she shared about her days growing up in rural High Gate. Education was very important to her and her family; her grandfather saddled her horse each day for her to ride a few miles to High Gate to attend school there. After graduating from St. James High School, she married Lawrence Dahl. During World War II, she traveled with Lawrence to Arizona where he was a high-altitude bomber flight instructor. She worked in a factory during this time; the factory was not allowed to disclose what they were assembling. Later, she learned that they were assembling parts for the bombers in the war.
After the war, she and Lawrence returned to the Belle area. In June of 1947, she and Lawrence became part owners of Cantley & Dahl Mercantile Store. When Lawrence retired from the mercantile in 1962, they moved to High Gate. Kathleen worked for Nelson Hart Insurance during the 60s and 70s.
Kathleen enjoyed living on their farm in High Gate; she loved to share her home cooked meals with family and friends. She was an excellent baker and a master at making pie crusts, even passing this skill on to the bakers at Gasconade Manor.
Faith was an integral part of Kathleen's life, she was a member of First Baptist Church in St. James, Missouri. She enjoyed taking trips around the area with the senior adults as well as sharing a game of Bingo or Dominos with friends.
