Obituary

Joe Warren Alexander of St. James, Mo. passed away suddenly on Sunday, May 11, 2014 in Fenton, Missouri. Joe Alexander was 77 years, 8 months and 12 days of age.

Joe Alexander was born on August 31, 1936 in Iberia, Missouri to Ransom and Sylvia (Whittle) Alexander. Joe Alexander was united in the Sacrament of Marriage to JoAnn G. Morff on January 6, 1962. They were married for 52 years.

Joe Alexander lived in St. James, Mo. for 45 years. Joe began his military career in the United States Navy at the age of 17, and was enlisted for four years. After that he continued his service in the Missouri Army National Guard for the next 38 years. He retired as Chief Warrant Officer in 1996. After retiring, he served on several City of St. James boards. This included being elected to the City Council and appointed to the Planning and Zoning, Utility and Ambulance boards. While serving on the City Council, Joe initiated the development of the current recycling program for St. James. Joe volunteered his time at the St. James Tourist Information Center because of his dedication to the city of St. James. He also volunteered many hours at the Missouri Veteran's Home and was an active member of the Missouri Veteran's Home Assistance League. He was a devoted member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and was a Third-Degree member of the Knights of Columbus. Joe will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Joe Alexander is survived by his wife, JoAnn G. Alexander, of the home, daughters: Brenda Carrell and husband Greg of Jefferson City, Mo.. Lisa Bertholomey and husband Terry of Pacific, Mo.; Sheri Wombwell and husband Carl of St. James, Mo.; Michele Auxier and husband Sam of St. James, Mo.; son: Brent Alexander of St. Charles, Mo.; sister: Patsy Sien of Iberia, Mo.; sister-in-law: Dora Alexander of Eldon, Mo.; also ten grandchildren and two great grandsons.

Joe Alexander is preceded in death by his parents: Ransom and Sylvia Alexander; one brother: Curtis Alexander; and one sister: Dorothy Jones.

Services
Visitation for Joe Alexander will be on Thursday, May 15, 2014 from 4 - 8 P.M. at the Jones Funeral Home in St. James, Mo. Prayer Service will be at 3:30 P.M. Thursday, May 15.

Funeral Services will be conducted on Friday, May 16, 2014 at 11 A.M. at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in St. James, Mo. with Father Charles Pardee officiating. Cheryl Harland will be the vocalist with Lisa McCarthy at the organ. Pallbearers will be: Chris Bertholomey; John Kelly; Levi Auxier; Alex Auxier; Jonah Auxier; and Shane Wheeler. Honorary pallbearers will be: Jim Ambrose, Andrew Carrell, and Kenny Thompson. Burial will be in the Immaculate Conception Catholic Cemetery in St. James, Mo.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Honor Flight Network in memory of Joe Alexander.

All arrangements are under the direction of the Jones Funeral Home in St. James, Mo.
