Jeffrey W. Coss, passed away quietly at Phelps Health in Rolla, Missouri on September 10, 2024 at the age of 69 surrounded by his family. He faced life's challenges bravely, living with the complications of diabetes, a battle he fought vigorously throughout his life.

Born on June 1, 1955, in Elgin, Illinois, Jeffrey was the son of the late Welling and Elizabeth "Betty" Robinson Coss.

He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Grace Butcher; and brother, Donald Coss.

He is survived by his beloved daughter, Jessica Becker and her husband, Jeff of Janesville, Wisconsin; His siblings, Harold Coss of Herring, Illinois and Bill Coss and wife, Paula of Memphis, Tennessee also continue to carry his legacy and memory in their hearts as well as two grandchildren, and his nieces and nephews, who held a special place in his heart.

Growing up near the serene surroundings of Crystal Lake, Illinois. He shared many treasured memories with close family members, most notably, the Auxier family, who have been a significant part of his life for many years. Jeffrey's bond with the Auxiers only deepened after their move to St. James, where he made the heartfelt decision to relocate and continue nurturing those familial ties.

Jeffrey dedicated a good portion of his life to working on the Auxier family farm, where he found immense joy in the simple pleasures that farm life offered. He warmly embraced his role, helping with daily tasks and ensuring the farm thrived. However, it was the barn cats that stole his heart; he took immense delight in their antics, often calling his brother to share stories about the furry companions he adored. His special furry friend Spike, who he kept at his home was one of his favorites, and will be ever near to his heart.

Jeffrey's absence will surely be felt in the hearts of all who were privileged to know him. A Celebration of Life service may be held for family and friends to celebrate his life and the many memories he created; the service will be announced by the Jones Funeral Home in St. James, MO.

In lieu of flowers, we request that donations be made in his memory to the Phelps County Animal Rescue of St. James, Missouri. This loving tribute reflects Jeffrey's lifelong commitment to the welfare of animals and his desire to help those in need. Cards for donations are available at the Jones Funeral Home, allowing friends and family to wish him farewell in a way that aligns with his values.
