Obituary

Jeannette Evans Clemans of Colorado Springs, Colorado formally of St. James, Missouri, passed away October 12, 2024 at the New Dawn Memory Care in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

She was born to Burl Mae Carter Evans and Lee Evans in East Texas on March 11, 1932.

On June 12, 1949 she was married to Richard Louis Clemans in Boyd, Texas.

To this union there were born four children: Brenda Miller, Laura McGibney, David Clemans and Rebecca Clemans.   Jeannette is survived by these children, seven grand-children, and 15 great- grand-children.

She was wife to an active United Methodist minister and during the early period of marriage a stay-at-home mother to their children.  Later she was employed as a Head Start teacher; then as a bookkeeper at two different Singer Company stores; then the Assistant Director of the Senior Companion program in Rolla, Missouri; and finally, she was Director of the Phelps County Retired and Senior Volunteer Program.  She retired in 2002.

After retirement she was involved in volunteering in her home community of St James, Missouri.  After Richard's death in 2012, Jeannette moved to be near her daughter, Laura, in Illinois.  In 2013, Jeannette moved to Colorado to be near her daughters, Brenda & Rebecca as well as her son, David.   She remained a joyful, happy mother, grandmother and great grandmother.   She kept her optimistic outlook throughout life and always found reasons to smile and to laugh.   Memorial gifts may be given to Heifer International Project https://www.heifer.org/give/index.html or Habitat to Humanity, www.habitatphelpscounty.com

No Services are scheduled. Burial of the ashes will be next to her husband at Garvin Methodist Church Cemetery in Boyd, Texas
