James Edward Wood Sr. of Cuba passed away Sunday May 29, 2011 at the Missouri Baptist Hospital in St. Louis. He was 95 Years of age.
James Edward Wood Sr. was born February 15, 1916 in St. James, the son of the late Ward and Betsy Quick Wood.
On June 25, 1939, he was united in marriage to Lula Elsie Stack.
James Wood Sr. is survived by his son James Edward Woods Jr. and his wife Joyce of Arlington Heights, Illinois. Along with one brother Ward Wood of Reno, Nevada and four grandchildren; Jennifer, James, Joshua and Justin.
He is preceded in death by his wife Lula Elsie Wood who entered into rest August 19, 2003 and an infant daughter Ivohn Wood, along with two brothers: John Henry Wood and Lyle Wood, Sisters: Ruth Mash and Maxine Jacobs.
Mr. Wood was a Chemical Engineer and loved his family and loved playing with his grandchildren. He enjoyed fishing and spent many hours tending to his garden. He enjoyed working with wood, and visiting his home you could see many projects that he had built. He was a quiet loving person who gave of himself. He will be sadly missed.
Services
James Edward Wood will lie in state from 6-8 pm Tuesday May 31, 2011 at the Jones Funeral Home in St. James.
Funeral Services will be conducted 10:00 am Wednesday June 1, 2011at the Jones Funeral Home in St. James with Lynn Huggins officiating. Hymns, Amazing Grace and How Great Thou Art were played by Charlet Hemme with Lora Garver singing. Serving as pallbears are John Seitz, Dwight Stack, John Seitz Jr., Joshua Wood, Lee Layton and Justin Wood. Burial was in the family plot at the St. James Cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Jones Funeral Home in St. James.
