Gussie Pohle of St. James passed away Monday, June 24, 2024 at the St. James Living Center in St. James, Missouri. She was 87 years of age.

Gussie, the daughter of August and Frieda (Alt) Lupberger, was born August 13, 1936 in the community of Dillon near St. James, Missouri. She was united in marriage to Carl H. Pohle on June 7, 1961.

Gussie is survived by her son, Dwight Pohle and wife, Kris of St. James, Missouri; her daughter, Gayla Pohle of St. James, Missouri; granddaughters, Samantha and Megan; and great-grandson, Ezra.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and her sisters: Clara Smith, Joyce Watkins, and Helen Briesemeister.

Gussie was a true farm girl; she loved being outside whether she was tending to her garden or helping with farm chores. She was still bucking haybales when she was 70 years old. Quitting was definitely not in her vocabulary. She enjoyed raising flowers and vegetables; she was famous for her tomatoes.

She met her husband, Carl at the "Twin 6" restaurant that her parents owned on old Route 66 Highway. She worked as a waitress. After marriage, she devoted her life to her family; she was very committed to caring for her daughter, Gayla.

Graveside services will be 10:00 AM Wednesday, June 26, 2024 at the St. James Cemetery.
