Gordon E. Stine died suddenly August 13, 2008 at home in Owensville at the age of 89 years, 4 months, and 30 days.
Gordon was born March 14, 1919 in Tyrone, PA to his parents George Guyer and Anna (Smith) Stine. He was united in marriage to Vera Legge in England.
He joined the US Army in 1940 and was trained and worked in cartography. He served in the 2775th Engineers Base Photo Map Company in England and France. He retired in 1973 from Aeronautical Chart and Information Center in St. Louis, MO and moved to Kimberling City, MO on Table Rock Lake. Gordon and Vera moved to St. James in 2005. He belonged to the VFW Post 5608, American Legion Post 607, Elks, National Association of Retired Federal Employees and volunteered at the Missouri Veterans Home in St. James, Missouri.
Gordon is survived by his special friend: Ulla Havelka of Owensville, Missouri; daughter: Frances Green and husband Richard of St. James, Missouri; daughter-in-law: Kathy Winters and husband Art; five grandsons and one granddaughter, Richard Jr. and Toni Green of Omaha NE; Roger and Annette Green of Beaufort, MO., Coy and Heather Stine of Mont Vernon, NH; Greg and Deborah Stine of Wildwood, MO; Jennifer and Sean Elam of St. Louis, MO; and Russell Green of St. James, Missouri. Also seven great grandchildren: Beth Chenault and husband David of Ottawa, Illinois; Rachel Green of Omaha, Nebraska; Aidan and Aubrey Stine of Wildwood, Missouri; Nathan, Eva and Owen Stine of Mont Vernon, New Hampshire. He will be greatly missed by his brother Kenny Stine and wife Julia of Howards, PA.; and sisters: Dorothy Brown of Springfield, VA and Mary Leap of Lewistown, PA and many nieces and many nieces and nephews whom he enjoyed visiting as often as possible.
He was preceded in death by his dear wife Vera (Legge) Stine who entered into rest December 26, 2006.,parents: George Guyer and Anna (Smith) Stine and one son: Wayne Stine.
Services
Memorial Services will be conducted at 10:00 AM on Friday, August 22, 2008 at the Jones Funeral Home in St. James. Graveside Funeral with full military service will be conducted 2:15 P.M. Friday August 22, 2008 at the Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, Missouri.

All arrangements are under the direction of the Jones Funeral Home in St. James, Missouri.
