Obituary

Gary Duane Carrell of Rolla, Mo passed away suddenly Sunday November 21, 2021 at the University Medical Center in Columbia, MO. He was 61 years of age.

Gary Carrell was born July 24, 1960 in Indiana, the son of the late Lowell T. and Bettie Arlene Duncan Carrell.

He is survived by his wife Terri Jean Shive Carrell of Rolla, Mo. Son: Burke Carrell and wife Allyson of St. James, Mo., three brothers; Greg Carrell and wife Brenda of Jefferson City, MO., Garvin Carrell and wife Denise of Spokane, Washington and Gerald Carrell of Cuba, Mo., sisters: Gina Carpenter of St James and Amber Ward of Texas. He is further survived by three grandchildren Kaitlynn, Cady and Benjamin, along with many cousins and a host of friends.

He is proceeded in death by his parents and one sister Gwendolyn Sue Carrell who entered into rest February 1, 1979.

Gary grew up in St. James and graduated from John F. Hodge Highschool class of 1978. After graduation he Studied Accounting and Finance at CMSU. He served as Regional Manager of Long John Silver for many years and District Manager for Taco Bell and Huddle House. He was currently a meat cutter at Kroger's in Rolla, MO. Gary loved the great outdoors. This was his favorite time of the year and had just finished a weeks' vacation Deer Hunting. It was a toss-up which he liked most, Deer Hunting or Fishing. It was not so much the sport, but enjoying being with family and friends. He was known for his family BBQs, where family gather and memories were made. He was a gunsmith and had a few collectable firearms he was proud of, that he thought Terri didn't know about, but she was totally aware of. His greatest love was his family, his life was centered around his family either hunting, fishing, watching grandkids play sports or watching Burke coach his kids. He will be truly missed and fondly remembered.

Services will be held at the Davis Church Cemetery around Memorial Day 2022, where he will be buried next to his Father and Sister.

Memorial may be given to the Jones Funeral Home and will be used towards St. James Youth Football Program.
