Francis William Todd of Wright City, Missouri, formerly of St. James, Missouri, passed away Sunday, August 10, 2025 at his home. He was 94 years of age.
Francis, the son of the late Fred Allen and Eunice Etolia (Moreland) Todd, was born August 29, 1930 in St. Louis, Missouri. He was united in marriage to Virginia Bernice James on January 28, 1950 in Salem, Arkansas.
Francis is survived by his wife, Virginia (GG) of Wright City, Missouri; son, Terry F. Todd of Wright City, Missouri; two daughters, Debra S. Hazel of Wright City, Missouri and Virginia Jean Hatcher (Jeffry) of Ashburn, Virginia; seven grandchildren: Heather Hazel, Jarod Hazel (deceased) Rachel Whiticar (Scott), Jonathan Todd (Erin Luke), Ethan Todd, Melissa Sundaram, Virginia Suzanne (Suzi) Artieda (Carlos). Great grandchildren: Brendan Hazel, Shawn Whiticar, Scottland Whiticar, Alastair Todd, Violet Sundaram, Samantha Sundaram, Isabel Artieda and Ashton Artieda.
Francis devoted much of his life to his career, beginning with his tenure at International Shoe Co., in St. James, Missouri. His journey continued in Wright City, Missouri, where he contributed his skills to Wright Sole Company. Francis, took a bold step and founded Phoenix Converting Co., a paper company in Jonesburg, Missouri, where he thrived for many years.
Outside of his professional life, Francis found joy in the simple pleasures. He was an avid sports fan, passionately following the St. Louis Cardinals and the Kansas City Chiefs. His love for the outdoors was evident in his fondness for hunting and fishing, where he created lasting memories at Lee Todd's Ponds and the Dry Fork River.
Francis was a devoted charter member of Fellowship Baptist Church where he faithfully served as a Deacon and generously offered his time and skills in the construction and upkeep of the church building. A devout Christian, Francis believed in living out his faith each day. He was a firm believer in "walking the walk" and not just "talking the talk", and his life reflected the principles of his faith in every way.
Above all, Francis cherished his family. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend, whose warmth and kindness touched the live, of many. His laughter, stories, and unwavering support will be profoundly missed.
Francis, will lie in state at 11 am Saturday August 30th, 2025 Memorials are requested to the Broadway Baptist Church in St. James, Missouri. His funeral will begin at 12 noon at the church building, and will be laid to rest at Broadway Memorial Cemetery. Jeff Hatcher will sing his favorite songs. His pallbearers will be Brendan Hazel, Shawn Whiticar, Scott Whiticar, Jonathan Todd, Ethan Todd and Doug Mason. Memorials are requested to the Broadway Baptist Church general fund.
