Fern Joan Heflin of Springfield, Mo, formerly of St. James, Mo. passed away on Tuesday, April 10, 2012 at the Woodland Manor Nursing Home in Springfield, Mo. Fern Heflin was 73 years, 9 months and 13 days of age.
Fern Heflin was born on June 28, 1938 in Rolla, Mo. to her parents Lloyd C. and Julia Elizabeth (Williams) Jackson. On August 12, 1960 Fern was united in marriage to Floyd Alfred Helfin by Fred Barber at the St. James Chrisitan Church. To this union one daughter was born.
Fern was a member of St. James Christian Church in St. James and graduated from John F. Hodge High School. She was a very devoted housewife and wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Fern and Floyd owned and operated their own heating and air conditioning service in St. Louis, called "Heflin Heating and Cooling" for 26 years before retiring back to St. James. One of Fern's favorite past times was playing cards with her sister-in-law Linda Jackson. Fern was a precious person who was always cheerful and fun to be around. Fern moved to Springfield to be near her daughter and family and there she attended "Praise Assembly of God" for the last 14 years were she was active in the Seniors Group at the church. Fern will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her.
Fern Heflin is survived by her loving daughter and Son-In-Law: Debra and husband Jay Passmore of Springfield, Mo; two granddaughters;Sara Elizabeth Hann; and Tammy Bright; two great-grandsons: Isaac Hann and Caleb Bright; two great-granddaughters: Erica Hann and Megan Bright and sister-in-law: Linda Jackson of St. James, Mo.
Preceding Fern Heflin in death is her husband, Floyd Alfred Heflin who entered into rest October 11, 1998, parents: Lloyd and Julia (Williams) Jackson; and one brother: Sam Jackson who passed away November 1, 2008.
Services
Fern Heflin will lie in state at the Jones Funeral Home in St. James at 10:00 A.M. Saturday April 14, 2012.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Saturday, April 14, 2012 at the Jones Funeral Home Chapel in St. James, with Rick Mosher officiating. Hymns: Amazing Grace and Because He Lives will be provided by Lori Garver, Vocalist with Charlet Hemme at the organ. Pallbearers will be Doug Williams, Steve Jackson, Lowell Wynn, Bob Rivers, Corey Bright and Hamar Hann. Burial will be beside her husband in the family plot in the Ozark Hills Memorial Gardens in Rolla, Mo.
All arrangements are under the direction of the Jones Funeral Home in St. James, Mo.
