Darlene was an active person who was always busy. She grew up with a great love of music that she acquired while attending the Pentecostal Church. She loved going to singings at Broadway Baptist Church and other area churches. Other groups she enjoyed were the Marty Morland Group, the Covent Group on T.V., Mark Mathis and the Heart Beats and even Bluegrass Gospel. She grew up in a simpler time of life, when technology was not as prevalent and when you never got bored because her parents never let it happen. In the summer months she would do a lot of baking, and the family grew a big garden, and did a lot of canning to help with the grocery bill. Darlene always said fried fish always tasted better on the creek bank. Later in life Darlene operated Darlene's Collectibles in Rolla on Pine Street where she sold items such as Teddy Bears, collectable items and sold Avon for over 45 years. She believed the scars we get along the way will not exist in Heaven.
