Obituary

Edwin Hugo Prigge, of Vichy, MO., was born August 23, 1922, in Winona, Minn., the son of Dora and Edward Prigge, who originated from Germany. He passed away on February 22, 2014, at the Phelps County Regional Medical Center in Rolla, surrounded by his children, at the age of 91 years, six months.

Eddie grew up in Minnesota. He went to work at an early age and joined the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC), a public work relief program that was part of Roosevelt's New Deal. He was then employed with the Federal Aviation Administration, which brought him to Vichy during the construction of the Navy aviation training base, now the Rolla National Airport.

It was in Vichy that he met the love of his life, Helen Verle Warner. They were married Sept. 18, 1948, at the First Baptist Church in Rolla. To this union, five children were born. Eddie and Verle enjoyed 64 years of marriage, until Verle passed away on October 5, 2012.

Once married, Eddie continued to work for the FAA, and he and Verle lived in many states. Around 1962, Eddie and Verle purchased the C.O. Fannon Store in Vichy and called it Prigges' Market. Eddie worked as an electrician at the University of Missouri-Rolla, now Missouri S & T, and later as a maintenance electrician at Fort Leonard Wood. Upon retirement, he joined Verle in the store, until they sold it in 1990. For 30 years, Eddie and Verle enjoyed spending the winters in Bonita Beach, Fla. Eddie enjoyed gardening and working in the garage and shared Verle's enjoyment of yard sales and thrift stores.

Eddie is survived by four children: Ruth Anne Moreland and husband, Marty, of Vichy; Betty Sue Litton of Vichy; Genevieve Maples of Belle; and Mike Prigge, and wife, Bonnie, of Vichy; Nine grandchildren: Lisa Cannon, Scott Moreland, Donnie Chambers, Mark Chambers, Andrew Maples, Claire Maples, Jesse Maples, Logan Prigge and Lauren Prigge; and six great grandchildren: Joshua Ledbetter, Austyn, Allison and Zachary Moreland; and Dimesha and Elizabeth Chambers.

In addition to his wife Verle, Eddie is preceded in death by his parents, Dora and Edward Prigge; one son, Robert Warner Prigge; one sister; Ruth Schmidt, and one brother, Allen Bud Prigge.
