Dwain Croom of Sullivan, Missouri passed away on August 20, 2012 at St. Luke's Hospital in St. Louis, Mo. Dwain Croom was 72 years, 7 months and 11 days of age.
Dwain Croom was born on January 9, 1940 in Lynn, Arkansas to his parents: Sherill E. and Martha C. (Adams) Croom. Dwain Croom was united in marriage to Barbara Jones on July 2, 1957 in Batesville, Arkansas.
Dwain Croom was a welder and inspector by trade. He loved the outdoors, and enjoyed hunting and fishing, and always had a story about the one that got away. He was a representative for the White's Metal Detectors for over 18 years traveling the United States. He field tested one of the first Classic I.D.'s detector on the market. Dwain found many treasures through the years with his metal detector but none so great as the ones he laid up in heaven. Dwain obey the gospel at an early age of 15 and was baptized in the Strawberry River in Lynn, Arkansas. He served his Lord through his life having served as Deacon in Afton, Mo., under the leadership of the well known evangelist Eugene Sewell. Dwain and Barbara, help build the congregation at the Quartzside, Arizona where they attended for 20 years. They worshiped with the St James Church of Christ for 18 years when Dwain's health permitted.
Dwain Croom is survived by his loving wife of the home: Barbara Croom of Sullivan, Mo.; two sons: Lionel W. Croom and wife Theresa of O'Fallon, Mo.; and Phillip E. Croom and wife Kim of Sullivan, Mo.; two grandchildren: Christopher W. Croom of USAF; and Mariah Christine Croom and one great-grandchild: Colton Anderson.
Dwain Croom is preceded in death by his parents: Sherill E. and Martha C. (Adams) Croom.
Services
Visitation for Dwain Croom will be on Thursday, August 23, from 6 - 8 P.M. at the Jones Funeral Home in St. James, Mo.
Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, August 24, 2012 at 2 P.M. at the Jones Funeral Home in St. James, Mo. with Lynn Huggins officiating. Pallbearers will be: Lanny Jones; Kerry Jones; Tony Anderson; Christopher Croom; Butch Zeis; and Rusty Otis; Honorable pallbearers will be: Norman Baker adn Stephen Laughtner. Hymns will be: What A Friend We Have In Jesus; Amazing Grace; How Great Thou Art; There Is A God; and When We All Get To Heaven. Burial will in the family plot in the Oak Grove Cemetery in rural St. James, Mo.
