Dorothy Leora Walker passed away and went to join her Lord and Savior on Wednesday April 9, 2025 at her home in Vichy, Missouri. She was 93 years of age.
Dorothy Walker, the daughter of the Late Marvin and Elva Gray Spencer was born January 10, 1932 in Vienna, Missouri. In 1948, she was married to Lorenzo Paul Lewis. To this union, George, Garry, and Marvin were born.
She was united in marriage to David Walker on August 28, 1967 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Dorothy Walker is survived by her husband of 57 years, David Walker of Vichy, Missouri; three sons: George Lewis and wife, Donna of Rolla, Missouri; Garry Lewis and spouse, Katy DeLong of Rolla, Missouri; and Marvin Lewis and wife, Bridgette of Sun City Center, Florida. She is further survived by 8 grandchildren including Paula Marti and husband, John of Rolla, Missouri; Matthew Lewis and wife, Bobbie Jo of Rolla, Missouri; Amanda Wiggins and husband, Richard of Rolla, Missouri; Amanda and Amber DeLong of Newburg, Missouri; Stephanie Tillman of Oklahoma; Melissa Lewis of Tennessee; and Roy Lewis of Utah. She is also survived by 16 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. She was lovingly called "Beep Beep" by one of her grandchildren, which quickly caught on and became her go-to nickname.
Dorothy was known for her loving and strong nature, as well as her hardworking and energetic spirit. Dorothy and David both graduated from Barber School in Arizona in 1962. She dedicated 50 years of her life to the art of barbering, working alongside her husband in their Camp Verde, Arizona barber shop. In 2002, the couple moved to Vichy, Missouri to be closer to family. She was a talented cook and baker, delighting her family with her delicious meals and homemade treats – always insisting that they eat more and take some home with them. Her quilting skills were unmatched, and she lovingly crafted many quilts for her family members to cherish.
In addition to her professional accomplishments, Dorothy had a green thumb and tended to a beautiful garden for many years. She preserved her harvest through canning, ensuring that her family enjoyed fresh produce all year round.
Visitation will be 9:00 – 10:00 AM Saturday, April 12, 2025 at Jones Funeral Home.
Funeral Service will be conducted at 10:00 AM Saturday, April 12, 2025 at the Jones Funeral Home in St. James with Stephen Brubaker officiating. Pallbearers will be George Lewis, Garry Lewis, Marvin Lewis, Roy Lewis, Matthew Lewis, and Mike Rogers. Burial will be in the family plot at Macedonia Cemetery. Memorial may be given to the Macedonia Cemetery.
