Dorothy Maxine Meurer was born on October 14, 1937 in St. James, Missouri to Walter L. and Lola (Sewell) Claus.
Dorothy was a member of the First Baptist Church of St. James, Missouri. She loved to cook, spend time with her children and grandchildren and reading the Bible; taking care of Grandpa (Frank).
Dorothy is survived by her husband: Frank E. Meurer of St. James, Missouri; children: Terry L. Crowley and husband Tim of St. Elizabeth, Missouri; Douglas Crawford and wife Andrea and Christopher Crawford and wife Cynthia both of St. James, Missouri; grandchildren: Stephanie Way and husband Heath; Rhiannon Ketcherside, Kristina Ward, Amanda Crawford, Caitlyn Crawford, Haden Crawford, Samantha Crawford, Matthew Crawford, and Gwendolyn Crawford; seven great-grandchildren: brothers: Kenneth Claus and wife Joyce of St. Peters, Missouri; Donald Claus and wife Dorothy of Crestwood, Missouri; Harold Claus of St. Charles, Missouri; sisters: Marie Arnicar of Affton, Missouri; Loree Morehouse and husband Dorris of St. Louis, Missouri; Juanita Foust; Wilma Sheridan and husband Jack; and Millie Hendricks all of St. James, Missouri; many nieces and nephews and other extended family members and friends. Dorothy will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Preceding Dorothy in death are her parents: Walter L. and Lola (Sewell) Claus; her first husband: Charles G. Crawford; four brothers: Leslie, Jack, Henry, and Tommy Claus; and one sister: Mae Suetterlin.
Services
Visitation for Dorothy will be from 5 - 8 PM on Wednesday, December 16, 2009 at the Jones Funeral Home Chapel in St. James, Missouri.
Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, December 17, 2009 at 11 AM at the Jones Funeral Home in St. James, Missouri with Jerry Baumann officiating. Pallbearers will be Dennis Foust, Donnie Foust, Jeff Glenn, Ronnie Morehouse, Gene Claus, and Les Clancy. Music will be provided by Stephen Brubaker: How Great Thou Art and Amazing Grace. Burial will be in the family plot in the Oak Grove Cemetery in rural St. James, Missouri.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Jones Funeral Home in St. James.
