"Dot" (Lacy) Barner

Dorothy Jean "Dot" Barner of St. James, Missouri passed away Tuesday, September 30, 2025 at Phelps Health in Rolla, Missouri. She was 87 years of age.
Dorothy, the daughter of the late Robert A. and Clara E. (Glenn) Lacy, was born March 16, 1938 in St. James, Missouri. She was united in marriage to Frank (Ted) Barner on December 27, 1958 at the St. James Christian Church in St. James, Missouri.
Dorothy is survived by her son, Kevin Barner and wife, Denise of St. James, Missouri; daughter, Lisa Burbank and husband, Michael of O'Fallon, Missouri; brother, Robert E. Lacy of St. James, Missouri; grandchildren, Andrea Harris and husband, Rick; Ashley Conroy and husband, Stefano; and Christy Burbank; and great-grandchildren, Sidney Harris and Jaxon Harris. She will also be deeply missed by her cousin, Iloine Hoffmeister Legg. Dorothy and Iloine were more than just family; they were great friends through their growing up years and through their adult years.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ted; and her infant daughter, Patti Jo.
Dorothy was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially keeping up to date on her grandchildren's activities. Dorothy loved going shopping and visiting with her friends that she happened to see when she was out and about.
Dorothy graduated from John F. Hodge High School in 1956. During her working career, she worked at Rye-Stix Dress Factory; Missouri Veterans Home; Hoffmeister & Lacy IGA Foodliner and Ted's Meat Company as a bookkeeper; and Carolyn's House of Fashion, Payless Shoes, J. C. Penney, and Walmart as a sales clerk.
Graveside service will be 11:00 AM Friday, October 10, 2025 at the St. James Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the St. James Caring Center.
Arrangements are under the direction of Jones Funeral Home in St. James, Missouri.
