Dorothy Jean Hawkins of St. James passed away Monday, July 4, 2022 at Phelps Health in Rolla, MO.  She was 82 years of age.

Dorothy, the daughter of the late Walter James and Pansy Marie (Hance) Chambers,  was born August 11, 1939 in St. Louis, MO.  She was united in marriage to Bobbie Lee Hawkins on May 28, 1961 in St. James, MO.

She is survived by her son, Kevin Lee Hawkins of St. James, MO; daughter, Letticia Marie Chapin and husband, Ben of Jefferson City, MO; sister, Rita Lambeth of St. James, Mo; five grandchildren: Lahonee, Bobbie, Heather , Cassidy and Dakota and twelve great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband; who entered into rest May 28, 1989; daughter, Sheri Lynn Alexander; who entered into rest June, 1989; brother, James Chambers and infant sister, Loretta.

Dorothy loved crafting and would spend hours thrift store shopping looking for the next bargain to collect her supplies. She would meticulously create some of the most beautiful arrangements that she would then share with her family and friends. In her younger years, she enjoyed painting, reading and playing the piano. After retirement, she spent many years volunteering and helping others. Dorothy will always be remembered as a generous soul with a contagious smile.

Visitation will be 9:00 AM Thursday, July 7, 2022 at Jones Funeral Home in St. James, MO.

Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Thursday, July 7, 2022 at Jones Funeral Home with Brother Mick Thrasher officiating.  Pallbearers will be Dakota Chapin, Jimmy Troy, Bryan Lambeth, Bobbie Alexander, Levi Elling and Aidyn Hutchins.  Burial will be in the Rolla Cemetery in Rolla, MO.
