Obituary

Dixie Lee Wideman of Meta, Missouri passed away surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, October 21, 2025. She was 89 years of age.

Dixie, the daughter of Clyde Cecil and Lillie Belle (Clark) Hollis, was born October 9, 1936 in Maries County, Missouri. She was united in marriage to Andrew Frank Wideman on April 29, 1956 in Hernando, Mississippi.

She is survived by her sons, Michael Andrew Wideman of Vienna, Missouri and Lonnie Ray Wideman and wife, Janell of Jefferson City, Missouri; daughters, Brenda Jean Tyree and husband, Bob of Vienna, Missouri and Anita Kay Troxell and husband, Danny of Vienna, Missouri; sister, Emma Lou Robinson of Rolla, Missouri; brother, Daryl Hollis of Vienna, Missouri; grandchildren: Derand (D.J.) Schubert (Katie) of St. Robert, Missouri; Robert Weston (Wes) Schubert of Waynesville, Missouri; Nicky Wyatt (Emrick) of Iberia, Missouri; Lyndsey Wideman (Jared) of Murphysboro, IL; Heather Kirchner (Mick) of Eldon, Missouri; Mitchell Wideman of Jefferson City, Missouri; and Tanner Custard (Taylor Sumpter) of Holt Summit, Missouri; many great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Dixie worked hard to create a loving home for her husband and five children. Raising five children meant many hours of cooking, cleaning, and laundry.  Never complaining about the many hours of hard work, it was her way of expressing her care and commitment to her family's well-being. In addition to her roles as a devoted wife and loving mother, she balanced various jobs throughout her life, waitressing in the early years, working at various factories while raising her family, and later working at convenience stores until her retirement.

Her strong work ethic and determination were an inspiration to her family. Through example, she taught them the value of hard work and the importance of family. Dixie's spirit of kindness, strength, and unwavering love will be remembered by all who knew and loved her.
