Dennis Eugene Marcus of St. James passed away Saturday morning April 9, 2022, at the St. James Living Center. He was 75 years of age.

He was born February 26, 1947, in Maryville, MO, the son of the late Gerald and Josphine Zulpo Marcus.

Dennis is survived by his mother Josephine Zulpo Marcus of St. James, MO., brother: Mike Marcus and his wife Sharron of St. James, MO, along with nieces: Teresa Brown of Cuba, MO, and Lisa Johns and husband Jim of Vichy, MO. He is further survived by many cousins and other relatives and friends.

Dennis loved the outdoors; he loved to hunt and fish. He grew up hunting deer and turkey with his dad and brother. Like all good fishermen, he always had his eye on a good lake to fish. He had taken many fishing trips to Canada, Louisiana, and Texas. Opening morning deer season was an exciting event with Dennis. He would get together early in the morning with his group of friends and go to the wood to get the big one. Stories of the previous year and the big one that got away always entertained the day. Dennis worked for MoDot for many years. He served his country in the US Army. He entered the service in St. Louis, MO on March 3, 1968, and was stationed at Fort Dix, New Jersey. It didn't take the Army long to discover Dennis's ability to handle a gun and awarded him a Marksman with the M-14. His specialty in the Army was a Radio Operator and was overseas for over a year when he received his honorable discharge.

Visitation for Dennis Marcus will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, April 16, 2022, at the Jones Funeral Home in St. James.

The memorial service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 16, 2022, at the Jones Funeral Home in St. James with Rev. Brendan Griffey officiating. South Central Patriot Guard will escort Dennis's Ashes to the St. Anthony's Catholic Church Cemetery for a Graveside Funeral and Full Military Honors, following the Memorial Service.

Memorials may be given to the St. Anthony's Catholic Church Cemetery.
