Darlein Duncan of Vienna, MO passed away Wednesday, April 20, 2022, at Stone Bridge Senior Living in Jefferson City, MO.  She was 96 years of age.

Darlein, the daughter of the late J. Elmer and Amelia E. Diestelkamp Ferris, was born February 22, 1926 in Owensville, MO.  She was united in marriage to Charles F. "Jack" Duncan on May 23, 1948, in St. Louis, MO.

Darlein is survived by her son, Max Ferris Duncan, and wife, Holly of Deming WA; daughter, Ava Beth Cliburn (Duncan) of Centertown, MO; granddaughter, Hannah Doughty and husband, Craig; grandson, Aidan Duncan; great grandchildren: Landon, Lorlei and Jack Doughty and good friend and cousin, Sharon Sewell.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Jack; her parents; grandson, Brent Herzing; brother, Ervin Ferris; brother Ray Ferris; sister, Velva Breuer and brother-in-law, Raymond Breuer.

Darlein's kindness and endearing words of encouragement will be remembered by so many who had the privilege to know her.  Her ever-present smile invited one to stop and engage in conversation; her stories were so interesting- full of history about family, community, and church.   She faithfully supported her husband in the ministry by continually studying God's Word and living her life centered on Christ whether it was attending church meetings or helping others in need. She was a loving mother and grandmother; she loved to share their accomplishments and updates on their latest endeavors.  One can not mention her love for her family without mentioning her talents in cooking and the many meals that she prepared for her family.  As most cooks, she enjoyed sharing her handwritten recipes with others,  especially for blackberry dumplings!  As well as caring for her family, she worked in the area schools as a teacher and librarian for many years.

She was a member of the St. James church of Christ congregation.

Visitation will be 11:00 AM- 1:00 PM on Saturday, April 23, 2022, at Jones Funeral Home in St. James, MO.

Funeral services will be 1:00 PM on Saturday, April 23, 2022, at Jones Funeral Home with Lynn Huggins officiating. Pallbearers will be Max Duncan, Aidan Duncan, Kevin Meine, Craig Doughty, Bob Breuer, and Eric Meine. Burial will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery in St. James, MO.

All arrangements will be under the direction of the Jones Funeral Home in St. James, MO.
