He loved being outside whether it be farming, fishing, or hunting. He enjoyed tending to his cattle that he raised on his family's farm north of town. Even though his job and farming chores kept him busy, he always managed to find the time to take a trip or two. He took several trips to Canada fishing with his longtime friend, Randy Ray as well as hunting trips to North Dakota during pheasant season. He looked forward to the days that he and his son, Chaz could take off to the Osage River to fish. Spending time with family and friends and being outdoors under the wide open sky were the foundations of life that Charlie treasured.
