Carol Lynne Daniels, born on November 4, 1954, of Rolla, Missouri, passed away on February 10, 2026, in her hometown, leaving a legacy of dedication and service that will be fondly remembered by all who knew her. A proud graduate of the John F. Hodge Class of 1973, Carol furthered her education at Vo-tech School in Rolla, where she studied Secretarial Science, positioning herself for a career that she embraced with all her heart.
Carol began her esteemed career with the City of Rolla on June 13, 1974. Over the course of 46 years, she evolved from an Administrative Assistant in the City Administrator's Office to Deputy City Clerk and ultimately to City Clerk on October 4, 1987. Carol retired on October 2, 2022. During her tenure, Carol had the unique opportunity to work under seven mayors, including Herald Barnes, Lou McFarland, Floyd Ferrell, Elwyn Wax, Joe Morgan, William Jenks III, and Louis Magdits IV as well as with Ed Brookshier, Rolla's first city administrator. Her contributions to the city were noted in the Rolla Daily News, where she expressed gratitude for the opportunities afforded to her and the relationships she cultivated throughout her career.
Outside of her professional life, Carol was a cheerful and caring person, deeply devoted to her faith and community. She eagerly served her church in several capacities, including as a Sunday school teacher, youth group leader, and pianist. Her love for music was evident, as she played piano at church for many years and was a member of the New Hope Singers alongside her brother Bruce, bringing joy to many by performing at various area churches and events.
Carol found fulfillment in both her job and her church, always embracing opportunities to connect with others, whether solving problems at work or participating in worship and music. She was appreciative of the friends she made and the interesting people she met through her experiences at City Hall, often stating, "I am thankful for the opportunity to work with wonderful people and for a fine organization."
Carol leaves behind her brother, Bruce Daniels, and his wife Mitsy of St. James, Missouri; her niece Chantelle and nephew Chris, and his wife Becky; her great nephew Kai; and her dear friend Millie Street. She is preceded in death by her mother and father, George and Marjorie McDowell Daniels, and her great niece Kyia Grace Lee Daniels.
Her family, friends, and community will remember Carol as a beloved individual whose impact was felt far and wide. Her commitment to her faith, her work, and the people she cherished defined her life, leaving a legacy of kindness and dedication that will not be forgotten.
