Bonnie Hodorowski, formerly of St. James, Missouri, passed away on June 19, 2026, in Fairview, Tennessee, at the age of 82. Bonnie, the daughter of Charles and Pat (Fitzpatrick) Schroeder, was born on June 29, 1943, in Stevens Point, Wisconsin. Bonnie's life was marked by a deep commitment to her family, her profession, and those around her.
After completing her nurse's training, Bonnie's career included important roles at St. Michael's Hospital in Milwaukee, where she met her late husband Jerry, as well as at Bump Medical Clinic in Rhinelander, Wisconsin, and Presbyterian Manor in Rolla, Missouri. Her dedication to school nursing culminated in a rewarding 16-years of service at Newburg Public Schools. Beyond her daily work, Bonnie was a member of the Missouri Association of School Nurses and the National Association of School Nurses, reflecting her interests for supporting the health and well-being of children and her nursing colleagues.
Bonnie was known for her sweet and friendly nature, a warm laugh that could brighten any room, and a hospitable spirit that found joy in welcoming people into her home. She treasured walking daily with her husband, which brought her great pleasure, alongside her heartfelt visits to shut-ins and the joy she found in caring for others. Family was central to Bonnie’s life; she took great pride in having stayed home to nurture her children during their formative years. She loved spending time with her grandchildren. She looked forward to her travels to Tennessee for their special events, and she enjoyed sharing about their accomplishments with her friends.
A faithful member of the St. James church of Christ, Bonnie embraced her community with the same kindness and generosity that defined all aspects of her life. Her legacy is carried forward by her daughters, Paula Priester and husband, Rod of Fairview, Tennessee, and Peggy Phillips and husband, Brandon of Paragould, Arkansas. She is also lovingly remembered by her four grandchildren: Caitlin Priester, Connor Priester, Maddie Jones, and Aaron Jones, as well as a host of friends who were touched by her warmth and compassion.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved husband, Jerry and her sister, Mary Kay Schroeder.
Visitation will be 10:00-11:00 AM on Wednesday, June 24, 2026 at Jones Funeral Home, in St. James, Missouri.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM on Wednesday, June 24. 2026 at Jones Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Connor Priester, Aaron Jones, Rusty Otis, John Gorman, Shannon Soper, and Gabe Soper. Burial will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery in St. James, Missouri.
Bonnie Hodorowski's legacy is one of a caring nurse, a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, and a friend to many—a life lived with dedication, kindness, and a joy for the simple pleasures that brought light to those around her. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
