Betty Louise Grotha of St. James passed away Monday, September 2, 2019 at Phelps Health in Rolla. She was 85 years of age.

Betty was born December 21, 1933 at Safe, Mo., one of 9 children of Wm Bola and Galena Sewell Welch.

On March 10, 1952 in Salem, Arkansas, Betty was united in marriage to Allen Paul Grotha. Allen  passed away on April 11, 1982.

Betty was retired from the St. James Veterans Home.

Betty is survived by son: Richard Grotha (Debbie) of St. James, Mo.; Greg Grotha (Shirley Nichols) of St. James, Mo.; Mike Grotha (Judy Cavender) of Rolla, Mo. daughters: Donna Brannan (Steve) of Warsaw, Mo.; Beth Bock ( Mike) of Jefferson City, Mo.; sister: Wilma Tipton of Vienna, Mo.; grandchildren , great grandchildren , one great-grandchild and a son in law Gary Church of Clinton.

Preceding Betty in death is her parents:  Wm. Bola and Galena Sewell Welch; daughter: Diane Church; daughter-in-law: Debbie Adair Grotha; brothers: Cecil Welch and infant Jimmy Welch; sisters: infant: Annie Welch: Myrtle Rinehart, Ethel Mae Gunset, Grace Corbin and Jane Spurgeon; one great grandchild: Michael Tyler Kossuth.

Visitation for Betty will be held on Saturday, September 7, 2019 from 12 PM to 2 PM at the Jones Funeral Home in St. James, Mo.

Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 7, 2019 at 2 PM at the Jones Funeral Home in St. James, Mo. with Craig Rippy officiating and Gene Scantlin reading the obituary. Pallbearers will be Christopher Kossuth, Dallas Bock; Justin Morrow; John Grotha, Doug Daniel and Josh Rippy, Kaleb Rippy.

In Lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to the Solid Rock Christian Church in St. James, Mo.

Burial will be in the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church Cemetery in St. James, Mo.

All arrangements are under the direction of the Jones Funeral Home in St. James, Mo. Donations may be made to Solid Rock Christian Church of St. James.
