Betty Lou Spurgeon of Glen Ellyn, Illinois formerly of St. James, Mo. passed away suddenly on January 21, 2017 at  Good Samaratian Hospital  in Illinois.  Betty Spurgeon was 84 years, 2 months and 20 days of age.

Betty Lou  Spurgeon was born  on November 1, 1932 to her parents: Alva and Martha Wallace VanDorn.  She was united in marriage to Wensten Spurgeon. To this union three children were born.

Betty Spurgeon was a homemaker and loved taking care of her children.    She loved her children, great grandchildren  very much and touched the lives of everyone she met.   Betty will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Betty Spurgeon is survived by her son: William Spurgeon Jr. and wife Diane of Wheaton, Illinois; daughters: Teresa Kelso and husband Ted of Richland Hills, Texas; Deborah Wojnicz and husband Bob of Seattle, Washington.

Preceding in death is her parents: Alva and Martha Wallace VanDorn; husband: Wensten Spurgeon on October 27, 2013.

Visitation will be on Saturday January 28, 2017 starting at 9:00 a.m. at the Jones Funeral Home in St James, Mo.

Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, January 28, 2017 at 11 AM at the Jones Funeral Home in St. James with Jeff Hubbard officiating.  Burial will be at the High Gate Cemetery.  Memorials may be given to Fairhaven Childrens Home.

All arrangements are under the direction of the Jones Funeral Home in St. James, Mo.
