Benjamin Wayne Toddy, formerly of St. James, passed away Thursday, February 25, 2016 in Warrensburg, MO. He was 21years.
Benjamin, the son of Terry and Malisa Walker Toddy, was born on February 24, 1995.
He is survived by his parents, Terry and Malisa Toddy of St. James, MO; two brothers: Stephen Toddy of Warrensburg, MO and Silas James Toddy of St. James, MO; four sisters: Ashlee Dicus and husband, Derek of Richland, MO, Jennifer Szalapski and husband, Tommy of Boulder, CO, Ivy Toddy, and Rebekah Toddy; grandparents: Wayne Walker of Rolla, MO and Betty Alcorn and husband, Max of Jerome, MO; nieces and nephews: Jocelyn, Sabrina, Elsie, Louis, Malachi, and Abner and a host of friends.
He is preceded in death by his grandmother, Willa Dean Walker; grandfather, Terry Toddy, Sr. and cousin, Brittany Walker.
Benjamin was a loving son and brother. He aspired to build a strong character through integrity and honesty. He encouraged the ones around him to develop those same character traits. He was witty with a touch of sarcasm. He and his sister, Rebekah, liked to watch comedies; they had a talent of connecting the funniest scenes in these movies to every day happenings. He brought lots of laughter to those around him. He was adventurous, loved hiking outdoors, and gigging. He was a devoted weight lifter. He was pursuing a degree in criminal justice at the University of Central Missouri-Warrensburg; he also worked with his brother, Stephen in Stephen's lawn service. He joined the National Guard three years ago; he served in Afghanistan as a combat engineer. He received the Afghanistan Campaign Medal with Campaign Star, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Armed Forces Reserve Medal with M Device and NATO Medal. He was currently serving in the National Guard Reserves.
Benjamin Toddy will lie in state 4-8 PM Saturday, February 27th at the Jones Funeral Home in St. James.
Funeral services will be conducted for Benjamin Toddy 2:00 PM Sunday, February 28th at the Wishon Cemetery in St. James with full military honors with Tom Rudloff officiating. Pallbearers will be Jacob English, Caleb Bowen, Jake Howdeshell, Nathan Jacobson, Jared English, and Zion English. Honorary Pallbearers will be Stephen Toddy, Silas Toddy, and Brandon Beaty.
Memorials may be made to Wounded Warriors.
All arrangements are under the direction of Jones Funeral Home in St. James.
