Obituary

Augustine Olive Robinson, known to all of her friends as Teena, passed away on Saturday, October 19, 2013 at the Parks Methodist Nursing Center in Odessa, Texas. She was 86 years of age.

Teena was born in Stonington, Maine on September 8, 1927 to Levi Barter and Edna (Dunham) Barter. As a young child, along with her parents and older sister, the family moved to Searsport, Maine.

After high school, she and a close friend moved to Boston, Massachusetts to find jobs. One stormy and rainy evening in 1945, the two young ladies dove under a department store canopy to avoid being drenched. About the same time, a couple of handsome sailors on liberty had the same idea. It was a little crowded at first, but it soon became apparent that this was a cozy coincidence. The next year, on March 16, 1946, Teena became the bride of one of those sailors, Bedford Lee Robinson, Jr., also known as: Brent, B.L., Buddy, or Junior.

Right after they were married in Boston, the newlyweds moved to B.L.'s home state of Missouri to begin their family. Nine years and five children later, the Robinson clan moved to Edwardsville, Illinois. Shortly after moving, Teena, responding to a visit from a couple of members of a small storefront Baptist church, attended their worship service. There in that humble little church, she made a lifelong commitment to Jesus Christ. In a few short weeks, the family began attending the Meadowbrook Church of God, where B.L. also made his decision to become a Christ follower.

The next fourteen years flew by as Teena raised her family and served God in hundreds of small ways, most of the time in the background, but always with love and devotion to her family and church. After four of the five children were out of the nest, Teena and B.L. felt that God was calling them into full-time ministry. They moved to Ottumwa, Iowa to pastor a rural congregation.

For the next thirty-two years, Teena followed at B.L.'s side as they served churches in Iowa, Mississippi, Tennessee, South Dakota, and Missouri. Even after their retirement, they continued to help churches whenever and wherever they were needed. On December 11, 2001, in St. James, Missouri, Teena was separated from her lifelong love, when B.L. passed from this life to the next.

Teena was preceded in death by her parents, her husband B.L., and her daughter, Linda Susan Dragovich. She is survived by her sister Margarite Engstrom of Searsport, Maine; her son, Terry Robinson and wife Cheryl of Odessa, Texas; two twin sons, Gary Robinson and wife Jean of East Alton, Illinois, and Larry Robinson and wife Cheryl of Spring, Texas; and daughter, Bonnie Willis of Little Rock, Arkansas. Teena also leaves behind twelve grandchildren and twenty-three great-grandchildren (with more on the way).

All who knew her loved her and will miss her very much. She was always gentle, uncomplaining, and exhibited the spirit of Christ.
