Obituary

Aaron Paul Satterfield, age 62, of St. James, MO passed away on November 5, 2009 at his home in High Gate, MO after courageously fighting a battle with cancer. He was born in High Gate, MO on August 5, 1947, to the late Randall E. and Marie (nee Skouby). Aaron graduated from John F. Hodge High School, St. James, class of 1965. In the summer of 1965 he enlisted into the US Air Force and proudly served his country for four years. Aaron did a 21 month tour of duty in Vietnam, while stationed at the Bien Hoa Air Force Base with TDY's at Tuy Hoa and Phan Rang Air bases in Vietnam. Aaron also had a TDY in Korea achieving the rank of Airman 1st Class. He was a munitions specialist. He received National Defense Service Medal; Vietnamese Service Medal, the Republic of Vietnam Service Medal; and the Air Force Commendation Medal.

Upon his return from serving his country, he enrolled at Missouri State University, formerly Southwest Missouri State University Springfield, MO. He graduated in 1974 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. In the spring of 1976 he and his partner, Carl Ray Huffman, opened the Greenleaf Gardens Nursery at Republic, MO. In 1985, Aaron moved back home and opened his own nursery, Brown-Satterfield Nursery and Tree Farm north of St. James. This venture has continued and grown into a productive tree farm and landscaping business. Aaron was a lifelong member of the High Gate Baptist Church. He loved nature, being in the outdoors, raising cattle, hunting and fishing.

He is survived by his beloved wife Louella (nee Riley), one daughter Diana Satterfield, Republic, MO; one son Paul Satterfield, High Gate, MO; one brother Quentin (wife Alison), High Gate, MO; one sister Elvira (husband Michael) Swofford, Mountain Grove, MO; one grandson Gavin Satterfield, St. James, MO; three step-sons Richard (wife Patty) Rogers, Flat, MO; Michael (wife Tammy) Rogers, Rolla, MO; Shane Rogers, St. James, MO; two sisters-in-law Donita (husband Randy) Rhinearson, Vilonia, AR; Roberta Mahaney, Rolla, MO; one brother-in law Lester (wife Regina), Thayer, MO; one niece Cassie (husband Rick) Maggard, Mountain Grove, MO; two nephews Clifton (wife Amanda) Satterfield, Springfield, MO and Randy Satterfield, Owensville, MO; five step-grandchildren Tyler, Christopher, Zach, Michael, and
Amanda Rogers; great nieces and nephews, several special cousins and a host of loyal friends. It was a privilege to know and love this kind and spirited person.

Aaron was preceded in death by his parents, one sister Isabell Satterfield, two brothers Wendell and John Satterfield and one niece Heather Kyle.

Services
A visitation was held Saturday, November 7, 2009 from 2:00pm till 8:00 pm at the Jones Funeral Home in St. James, MO.

A Memorial Service to celebrate Aaron's life was conducted at the High Gate Baptist Church, High Gate, MO on Sunday, November 8, 2009 at 2:00pm with Pastor Phil Cox & Bro. Matt Boyd officiating. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Rolla Area Hospice Assn., American Cancer Society, or the High Gate Baptist Church, 24175 County Rd. 450, St. James, MO 65559. Military Honors will be given after the funeral.

All arrangements are under the direction of the Jones Funeral Home in St. James.
