Thomas Joe Rinehart of St. James passed away Sunday morning January 12, 2020 at the Missouri Veterans Home in St. James. He was 87 years of age.
Mr. Rinehart was born February 8, 1932 at Hinkle, Mo., the son of the late Herschel Ezro and Augusta Matilda Skouby Rinehart.
On May 31, 1952 at Salem, Arkansas he was united in marriage to Mary Belle Cox. She entered into rest May 26, 2016.
Thomas Rinehart is survived by son: Robert Rinehart and wife Mary of St. James; Daughters: Marilyn Rhew and husband Mike of Owasso, Michigan, Barbara Soper and husband Neil of St. James and Vicki Gorman and husband John of St. James, along with 6 grandchildren: Shannon, Ben, Sarah, Galena, Emily and Erin., 6 great-grandchildren: Gabe, Caleb, Morgan, Noah, Beth and Joel; brothers: Martin Rinehart and wife Patty of Rolla, Mo.; James Rinehart of St. James, Mo. and sisters-in-law Betty Rinehart of St. James, Mo. and Kathleen Rinehart of Cuba, Mo. He is further survived by sister-in-law: Marlene Elrod of Cuba and her husband Lawrence of the Missouri Veterans Home, along with with many nieces and nephews.
Tom was a loving and caring person. He lead by example for his family and those around him. He accepted Christ at an early age and attended Oak Grove Church of Christ. He attended Oak Grove School and graduated from John F. Hodge High School. He served as Elder of St James Church of Christ and attended services a week before his passing. Tom worked for the St. James Post Office for many years serving as assistance to the Post Master, and in later years he worked for the City of St. James, Mo.
Visitation for Thomas Rinehart will be Friday, January 17, 2020 from 5 -7 PM at the Jones Funeral Home in St. James, Mo.
Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, January 18, 2020 at 11 A.M. at the Jones Funeral Home in St. James, Mo. with Lynn Huggins officiating. Pallbearers will be Shannon Soper, Ben Rhew, Gabe Soper, Marshall McDaniel, Grady Huggins, Nate Cook and honorary pallbearers will be Dick Branstetter, Randy Rinehart and Caleb McDaniel. Burial with full military honors will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery in rural St. James, Mo.
Memorials may be given to the Oak Grove Cemetery and Veterans Assistance League.
