Thelma Fern (Moreland) Rinehart

Thelma Fern Rinehart of St. James, passed away quietly with her family at her side, on Saturday morning June 9th, 2018 at the Phelps County Regional Medical Center in Rolla. She was 92 years of age.

Thelma Fern Rinehart was born March 19, 1926 on the family farm in Maries County. She was the daughter of the late William Roscoe and Olgie Lucy Herron Moreland.

On May 28, 1955 in St. James, Fern was united in marriage to Hansen John Rinehart. They enjoyed 62 years together. Hans entered into rest November 16, 2017.

Fern is survived by three sons: Randal Rinehart and wife Ann of St. James, Bruce Carter and his wife Nancy of St. James and John E. Carter and his wife Wendy of Rolla, along with 9 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

Fern was a kind and loving person. Besides taking care of their home and raising 3 boys, Fern also worked at Krogers in St. James, Central Hardware in Rolla, and Shelter Insurance. She loved to quilt and loved to watch the Cardinals on television. She was very active in the Church of God in St. James.

Fern was preceded in death by her husband Hans, her parents and two brothers: Omega Moreland and Don Moreland.

Thelma Fern Rinehart will lie in state from 6-8 p.m. Monday June 11, 2018 at the Jones Funeral Home in St. James.

Funeral Services for Thelma Fern Rinehart will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday June 12, 2018 at the Jones Funeral Home in St. James with Don Carson Officiating. Sam and Rebecca Bunyard, Isaac Helterbrand and Jacob Rinehart will provide musical selections. Pallbearers will be family. Burial will be beside her husband at the Oak Grove Cemetery.
