Terry Dillon of St. James passed away suddenly on May 17, 2018 at Boone County Hospital in Columbia, Mo. He was 57 years of age.
Terry Dillon was born September 30, 1960 in Rolla, Mo., the son of Roy Arthur and Bonnie Sue Koerber Dillon.
He was united in marriage to Edna Nichols on August 8, 1981 in St. James, Mo.
He is survived by his father, Roy Arthur Dillon of St. James; his wife, Edna Dillon of St. James; Daughters: Charlyn Stroud and husband, Johnnie of St. James; Brittany Casey and husband, Shane of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Tess Neimeyer and husband, Todd of Columbia, Mo., brother: Greg Dillon and his wife, Julie of St. James and sister: Deanna Jones and her husband, Richard of St. James; four grandchildren: Landyn Stroud, Madi Stroud, Dillon Casey and Lauren Neimeyer along with nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.
Terry was a spirited outgoing person who had a zest for life. He always had a funny story, a joke or a funny picture on his phone that he wanted to show you. He loved socializing with his buddies and trying to tell the biggest story. Terry was a loving husband and father. He was very tender hearted toward his wife and his girls. He was so proud to tell you about each girls' accomplishments and how hard each one had worked. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and giving them rides on the tractor. Going to the river, spending late nights gigging and striving to kill the largest buck were his favorite hobbies. As a child he stayed busy from sun up to sundown, whether it was digging ponds and lakes in his mom's garden with his Caterpillar dozer or completing the list of chores that his father left him every day. And, as an adult, he worked seven days a week from sun up to sundown providing for his family. He was a tremendously hard worker. He drove a dump truck hauling fire clay for Dillon Clay Mining for almost 20 years. From 1989 through 2002, he along with his parents and his wife helped operate Dillon Fertilizer. In 2000, he started Dillon Excavation, and he purchased his first brand new Caterpillar dozer. He and his wife operated the business for 15 years. In 2015, he started building pipe fences and setting up hoop barn buildings. In the last 15 years, he enjoyed building his herd of black and black white face Angus cattle. He has always loved John Deere tractors; he was so proud to own and restore his great grandfather’s 1937 poppin’ Johnny. He was a member of the Broadway Baptist Church.
He is preceded in death by his mother Bonnie Sue Dillon; his grandparents: Louis and Maudie Koerber and Vernon and Viola Dillon and his mother-in-law, Mary Nichols.
