Susan Jayne Howard of St. James, Mo. passed away on Saturday, January 26, 2019 at the University of Mo. Hospital in Columbia, Mo. She was 56 years, 7 months, and 16 days of age.
Susan Jayne Howard was born on June 12,1962 in Rolla, Mo. to her parents: Gary Scott and Buelah Laycock Scott. She was united in marriage to Warren Preston Howard on July 5, 1991 in Bartlesville, Oklahoma.
Susan worked as a substitute teacher at St. James Elementary School. She started with the State of Missouri in 1999 as a Correctional Officer I. In 2000 she promoted to Sargent. In 2005 she transferred to the Probation Division. In 2007 she was taken off work due to disability. Over the years she liked to garden, read books and she loved to dance. Susan loved to go fishing and being in the outdoors. She was a fighter and always wanted to help others wherever she could. She was always proud of their two sons; Nathan and Jay who are both Army Veterans. For years she had long black hair and a lot of people knew her by her long braided hair. She would always try to keep as smile on her face even on a bad day. Some of her co-workers would call her Zoom Zoom because she was alway on the GO. Warren always said she was his better half and best friend through good times and bad. She loved to spend time with family, and especially her grandchildren. Her favorite color was purple.
Susan Jayne Howard is survived by her husband, Warren Preston Howard; father: Gary Scott; sons: Nathan Howard and wife Liz of St. James and Jay Howard and wife Mary of St. James; one brother: Alex Scott and wife Jen of Florida; and one sister Gaye Smith and husband Brian of Warrenton, Mo.; along with three grandchildren: Silas, Sophie and Johnathan.
Preceding Susan Howard in death is her mother: Buelah Laycock Scott and one brother William H. Scott.
