Shirley Louise Mathenia

Shirley Louise Mathenia of St. James passed away August 25, 2017 at Silver Stone Nursing Home in Rolla, Mo., following a lengthy illness. She was 81 years of age.

Shirley was born March 21, 1936 at Harrah, Washington., the daughter of the late Clarence and Lillian Kennings Robinett.

She was united in marriage to Ed Mathenia, he entered into rest in 1996.

Shirley Mathenia is survived by three sons: Rick Whiteside and wife Diana of St. James; Edgar Mathenia and wife Jessalyn of St. James and Scott Mathenia and wife Lea of St. James, along with one daughter: Debbie Childs and husband Ben of Leslie, Mo., further survived by one brother: Russell Robinett of Redding, California and 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Edward, one daughter Terri Marks, one brother; Don Robinett and one sister; Patricia McRoberts.

Shirley was a worker, she and her family owned and operated the Elm Restaurant in St. James for many years. She worked many hours in the VFW Women's Auxiliary, but still found time for her loving family. She and her husband Ed loved to travel and were able to enjoy many adventures together. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Memorial Services will be conducted Tuesday Aug 29, 2017 at 2:00 pm at the Flag Springs Church in St. James with Pastor Franks Brooks officiating. Memorials may be given to the Flag Springs Church Nursery. On-line condolences may be entered at www.jonesfunerals.com.
