Richard "Rick" Charles Miller

Richard “Rick” Charles Miller of Springfield, Mo. Passed away quietly Friday August 11, 2017, with his family at his side at the Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Mo. He was 64 years of age.

Rick as he was know by his family and friends, was born September 25, 1952 in St. Louis, the son of the late Leroy Charles and Shirley Mae Moss Miller.

On October 25, 1980 Rick married the love of his life: Paula Sue Jones. To this union three children were born.

Rick is survived by his loving wife Paula Sue Miller of Springfield; dear sons: Zachary Miller and Ryan Manning Miller and friend Crystal both of Springfield and dear daughter: Casey Lee Smith and husband Josh of Rolla. Sisters: Susan Young and husband Edward of St. Louis, Mo., and Caryn Sue Wright and husband Michael of Hillsboro, Mo. Two very special grandchildren Easton and Kayden Smith. Nieces and Nephews: Ed Young, Allison Farmer, Michael Farmer, Kayla Boren, Michael and Brian Bierman and Emily and Kennedy Jones.

Rick had a great appreciation for the outdoors, he loved to hunt and fish and go camping. He was very active in the Special Needs Boys Scout Chapter # 2 in Springfield. If you visited his home you would find a great possession, a 32 lbs Bass he caught at Beaver Lake. Even though Rick had challenge with his arm it never hindered him in anything he did. He sold cars and managed car dealerships in Springfield and spent many hours working, but it never preceded the most important thing in his live, which was his love for his wife and children. He was a person who never met a stranger and never said anything bad about anyone. He will be greatly missed by his family and all who knew him.

Rick Miller will lie in state Monday August 14, 2017 from 5-8 pm at the Jones Funeral Home in St. James.

Funeral Service will be conducted 11:00 am Tuesday August 15, 2017 at the Jones Funeral Home in St. James with Tim Cook officiating. Ricks favorite hymns How Great Thou Art and Amazing Grace were played for his Service. Pallbearers were Michael Farmer, Ed Young, Josh Smith, Steve Biermann, Michael Biermann and Arthur Pleinis. Burial will be in the family Plot at the St. James Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the Humane Society of Southwest Missouri 3161 W. Norton Road Springfield, Mo. 65803.
