Mildred Lorene Tillie (Cowan) Gahr

Mildred Lorene Tillie Gahr of Rolla, Mo. passed away at the Rolla Health and Rehabilitation in Rolla, Mo. on June 21, 2018. Mildred Lorene Tillie Gahr was 87 years, 3 months and 24 days of age.

Tillie Gahr was born on February 28, 1931 to her parents Walter Temple and Mamie Bullock Cowan in St. James, Mo.

Tillie was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She always greeted you with a smile; she enjoyed hearing about her family and friends' latest happenings. She was a joy to visit with as she shared about her growing up years in St. James. She dearly loved her friends and looked forward to their monthly card games as well as the laughter and chance to reminisce. Tillie was employed by several business through the years: Boystown of Missouri, James Foundation, James Memorial Library, Boatmen's Bank for over 20 years, and Bank of America. She also received her cosmetology license, and she worked for Murel Frey and operated her own beauty shop for many years. Tillie will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Tillie Gahr is survived by her husband, Jesse Gahr of Rolla, Mo.; sons: Bruce Wilson and wife, Marcie of St. James, Mo.; and Scott Gahr and wife, Barb of St. James, Mo.; daughters: Kathy Tonelis of Kings Mountain, North Carolina; and Nicki Sells and husband, Robert of Franklin, Tennessee along with eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Preceding Tillie in death are her parents: Walter Temple and Mamie Bullock Cowan; first husband; Cottie Jim Ed Wilson on July 7, 2004; son-in-law Michael Tonelis brothers: Alvin Ray Cowan, Wilbur Teddy Cowan, Freeman Conrad Cowan, William Lee Cowan, Lyle Weldon Cowan and an infant brother; sisters: Elva Gertrude Glenn, Thelma Jessamine Olney and Mamie Marie Mash.

Visitation for Mildred Tillie Gahr will be on Sunday, June 24, 2018 from 5 - 8 PM at the Jones Funeral Home in St. James, Mo.

Funeral services will be conducted on Monday at 11:00 A.M. at the Jones Funeral Home in St. James, Mo. with Don Carson officiating. Pallbearers will be Mark Mash, Brian Wilson, Brandt Wilson, Jayden Byers, Wes Gahr, and Gene Carney. Linda Spurgeon will be the vocalist and organist. Burial will be in the St. James Cemetery Cemetery.

Memorials may be given to the High Gate Church Cemetery.
