Lola Stroud Obituary

Lola Marie Taylor Stroud of St. James, Mo. passed away on February 20, 2018 at her home in St. James, surrounded by her family. She was 77 years, 5 Months and 20 days of age.


 

Lola Marie Taylor Stroud was born on August 31, 1940 to her parents Fred Taylor and Nola Elizabeth Roach Taylor Smith, in Mississippi County, Missouri. Lola was united in marriage to Daniel James Stroud on July 12, 1955 in Desoto County, Mississippi.


 

Lola grew up in Southeast Missouri near East Prairie where she accepted Christ as a young girl and professed to be of the Pentecostal Faith. Lola loved the Lord and was ordained as a Pentecostal preacher and proclaimed the Word throughout her life. Lola and her husband Daniel owned a Christian Radio station in Charleston, Mo., for several years, along with a re-sale shop. She loved the Lord and she loved her family. She was the glue of the family through thick and thin, Lola always insisted on the family remaining together. She was a seamstress by trade and worked at Brown Shoes Factory in Charleston, Mo., and a clothing factory in East Prairie. She loved to sew and made blankets and clothing for all her family. In 2009 she moved to St. James to be closer to her kids and grandkids. She loved to be called Mom and Grandma; they were her special words to hear. She attended the Vichy Pentecostal Church in Vichy. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.


 

Lola Stroud is survived by her husband Daniel James Stroud of St. James, Mo.; sons: James Daniel Stroud and William Stroud both of Vienna, Mo.; daughters: Lola Gross and husband Paul of O'Fallon, Mo.; Linda and Garland Pyatt of St. James, Mo.; sisters: Jean Baker and husband Tom of Lewistown, Mo.; Ruth Cantrell of Sikeston, Mo.; and Dean Luber and husband Paul of Sikeston, Mo., Ann and Mike Newton of Sikeston, Mo.,; 7 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.


 

Preceding Lola Stroud in death is her parents: Fred and Elizabeth Roach Taylor; daughter: Sarah; two brothers: Everett Taylor and infant brother: Frank Edmond Taylor; three sister: Pearl , Ollie and Jewell; brother-in-law: Eugene Cantrell and one Great-Grand Daughter Emily Bell.


 

Visitation for Lola Stroud will be on Saturday, February 24, 2018 from 10 am to 1:00 PM at the Jones Funeral Home in St. James, Mo.


 

Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, February 24, 2018 at 1:00 PM at the Jones Funeral Home in St. James, Mo. with Tim Blackwell officiating. Pallbearers will be: Donnie Chambers; Joseph Morgan; Kristopher Gross; Jonathan Lindstrom; and Bradley Jenkins. Burial will be in the St. James Cemetery in St. James, Mo. Memorials may be made to the Stroud Family.
