John Thurmon Chears

John Thurmod Chears Sr. of St. James, Mo. passed away on July 16, 2018 at the Phelps County Regional Hospital in Rolla, Mo. John Chears was 83 years, 9 months and 16 days of age.

John Chears Sr. was born on October 1, 1934 in Miller, Georgia to his parents: Vachel Thomas and Florie Beatrice Landing Chears.

He proudly served his country. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.

John Chears Sr. is survived by: five sons: Thurmond Chears and wife Susan of Smithfield, North Carolina; John Chears and wife Paula of Pekin, Illinois; Charles Chears and wife Candy of Canton, Illinois; Wayne Chears and wife Dian of Dotha, Alabama; and Anthony Chears and wife Jeanetta of Smithfield, North Carolina; brothers: Charles T. Chears of Charleston, South Carolina and Louis Chears of Charleston, South Carolina; along with thirteen grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.

Preceding John Chears Sr. in death is his parents: Florie Beatrice Landing and Vachel Thomas Chears.

Graveside services with full Military Honors will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday July 24, 2018 at the St. James Cemetery with Mick Thrasher Officiating.
