Bette Lou Tonding passed away on March 6, 2018 at her home in St. James, Mo. She was 85 years, 11 months, and 22 days of age.
Bette Lou Tonding was born on March 12, 1932 to her parents Barney and Melita Hintz Katzung in Kester, Minnesota. Bette was united in marriage to Lowell C. Tonding on April 13, 1952 in Albert Lea, Minnesota.
Bette Lou Tonding is survived by her husband: Lowell C. Tonding of St. James, Mo.; two sons: Louis Tonding and wife Judy of Robertsville, Mo. and Mark Tonding and wife, Janet of Valley Park , Mo.; daughter; Susan Kay Tonding and Rob of St. Louis, Mo.; and twin sister; Mary Thompson of Albert Lee, Minnesota. She is survived by 5 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren: grandchildren: Lance Tonding, Tara Tonding, David Rhodes, Patty Lipford and husband Burk, Nicole Lynn Hull and husband Brad and great-grandchildren: Julian Lipford, Hanna Schonlau, Brandon Rhodes, Izayah Schonlau, Luke Rhodes and Sawyer Lipford.
Preceding Bette Tonding in death are her parents: Barney and Melita Hintz Katzung and one brother: Ray Katzung.
Bette Tonding was a devoted homemaker. She loved having her family around her. She adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Visitation for Bette Tonding will be held on Thursday, March 8, 2018 from 11 A.M. to 2 P.M. at the Jones Funeral Home in St. James, Mo.
Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, March 8, 2018 at 2 P.M. at the Jones Funeral Home in St. James, Mo. with Hospice Chaplin Mark Johnson offiicating. Music will be provided by George Ashley, vocalist and Janet Ashley organist.
Pallbearers will be Louis Tonding, Mark Tonding, Lance Tonding, David Rhodes, Rob Girdner, Luke Rhodes and Brandon Rhodes.
Burial will be in the St. James Cemetery in St. James, Mo.
