William Anthony Matthews

William Anthony Matthews of Vichy, Mo.  passed away at the Phelps County Regional Medical Center in Rolla, Mo. on March 15, 2017.  He was 76 years, 4 months, and 12 days of age.

William Anthony Matthews was born on November 3, 1940  in Rolla, Mo.  to his parents: William Forest and Agnes Mosher Matthews.  He was united in marriage to Dorothy Frank on March 23, 1990 in Jefferson City, Mo.

William Matthews proudly served his country  in the Marines Corp.  He drove over the road trucking for several years.  Billy and his cousin Glendon Klossner formed the first St. James Ambulance District which gave St. James the first Paramedic ran ambulance service.   He also worked the ambulances at St. Mary's and Capitol Regional Hospitals in Jefferson City, Missouri.  He was a life time member of the Marine Corp League in Jefferson City, Mo.

William Matthews is survived by his wife of the home: Dorothy (Frank) Matthews of Vichy, Mo.; one daughter: Kimberly Tooke and husband Bryan of Keller, Texas; one brother: James Dwight Matthews and wife Cindy of Newark, Ohio; along with two grandchildren: Timothy and Madison and one great-grandchild: Ainsley; along with other relatives and friends.

William Matthews is preceded in death by his parents: William Forest and Agnes Mosher Matthews.

Visitation for William Matthews will be on Saturday, March 18, 2017 from 6 - 8 PM at the Jones Funeral Home in St. James, Mo.

Funeral services will be conducted on Sunday, March 19, 2017 at 2 PM at the Jones Funeral Home Chapel in St. James, Mo. with Floyd Limkiller and Tommy Thompson officiating.   Pallbearers will be: Bryan Tooke, Michael Matthews, Madison Tooke, Timothy Tooke, Shawn Bancroft, and Shawn Steen.  Song will be: Leaning On The Everlasting Arms; Amazing Grace and The Old Rugged Cross.  Burial will be in the High Gate Cemetery in rural St. James, Mo.

Memorials may be made to the St. James Ambulance District or the Patriot Guards Riders.  Cards are available at the Jones Funeral Home in St. James, Mo.

All arrangements are under the direction of the Jones Funeral Home in St. James, Mo.
