Marie Marchi of St. James passed away Monday, December 11, 2017, at the Life Care Center in Sullivan, Mo. She was 76 years of age.

 

Marie Marchi was born January 18, 1941 in St. James, the daughter of the late Jake and Algae Mae Shefield Smallwood.

 

She was married to Louis Marchi on April 25, 1959, at Rosati, Mo. He enter into rest May 17, 2004.

 

Survivors are four daughters: Charlotte Wynn and husband Kerry of Jefferson City, Mo; Debbie Hughes and husband Keith of St. James; Lisa Hughes and husband Paul of Cuba; and Mendy Marchi of Pacific, Mo, one sister: Stella Jackson of St. James, Grandchildren: Amy (Hughes) Guthrey of Kansas City, Mo., Aaron Hughes of St. James, David Hughes of Chandler, Arizona, Kaitlyn (Wynn) Conlee of Republic and Jason Happle of Cuba. Along with 3 Great-Granddaughters and 1 Great-Grandson.

 

Marie is preceded in death by her parents, and husband.

 

Marie was a very outgoing and active person. She owned several businesses in St. James including Movies At Home and Homespun Treasures. She worked at the James Foundation for several years and worked for Boys Town and the St. James Schools and had a real estate license. She enjoyed working outside in her garden, collecting antiques and enjoyed reading a good book. She even found time for sewing and crafting. She will be sadly missed.

 

Prayer Service will be held at 5:30 Thursday, December 15th 2017, at the Jones Funeral Home in St. James with Father Henry Ussher leading prayers.

 

Marie Marchi will lie in state Thursday December 15, 2017 from 6-8 pm at the Jones Funeral Home in St. James.

 

Funeral Mass will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Rosati with Fathers Charles Pardee and Henry Ussher officiating. Jodi Piazza will play the organ with Liz Moreland Vocalist. Sister Virginia Myer will have the readings. Burial will be in the St. Anthony's Cemetery, Memorials are suggested to St. Anthony’s Cemetery.

 

All arrangements are under the direction of the Jones Funeral Home in St. James, Mo.
