Lena Breuer Obituary

Lena Mae Beeman Breuer, of St. James, Mo. passed away April 16, 2018, at the age of 98 years, 10 months, and 4 days of age.

Lena was born June 12, 1919 in the Miles Community north of St. James, Mo.. the daughter of the late Roy Beeman and Minnie Carter Beeman.. She was united in marriage to Leo Breuer on December 21, 1946.

Lena was baptized into Christ in July, 1949 and was a long-time member of the St. James church of Christ. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

She began working as a seamstress at the age of 17 and continurd sewing in factories in St. James until the age of 67. After retiring, she enjoyed the activities of the Golden Age Center in St. James, where she was chosen as a Volunteer of the Year. She spent many hours there quilting and she especially enjoyed helping to sew quilts for the Head Start children.

In addition to her parents, Lena was preceded in death by her husband; her brothers: Alfred, Clarence, and James Beeman; her sisters: Olive Claus Isgrigg and Gladys Crain; two infact siblings; and a beloved niece, Ann Simmons.

She is survived by her son, David Breuer and wife Debi of Rolla, Mo.; her daughter, Minnie Breuer, of Rolla, Mo.; her grandson, Isaac Breuer and wife Cathy of Columbia, Mo.; her granddaughter, Carrie Sachtleben and husband Mike of Webster Groves, Mo.; five great-grandchildren: Landon, Tyler, and Leo Breuer, and Henry and Maggie Sachtleben; her sister Hazel McIntosh of St. James, Mo.; and many nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to the Golden Age Center or to the Oak Grove Cemetery.

A visitation will be held Wednesday, April 18th, at 10 a.m. at the Jones Funeral Home in St. James with the funeral to follow at 11 a.m. with minister of St. James Church of Christ, Lynn Huggins officiating at the service. Congregational singing of songs: What A Friend We Have In Jesus and Won’t It Be Wonderful There; and There’s A Rainbow In The Cloud led by Robert Rinehart. Pallbearers will be: Isaac Breuer, Tyler Breuer, Landon Breuer, Mike Sachtleben, Keith Swallow, and Willie Simmons. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Leo Breuer, Henry and Maggie Sachtleben. Burial will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery in rural St. James, Mo.

All arrangements are under the direction of the Jones Funeral Home in St. James.
