Cynthia, the daughter of Raymond George and Marilyn Devall Houser, was born May 28, 1970 in Belleville, IL.  She was united in marriage to Scott Phenix on April 6, 1996 in Cuba, MO, and to this union, two children were born.

She is survived by her husband, Scott; one son, Preston of St. James; one daughter, Katlyn of St. James; her mother: Marilyn Houser of St. James, mother-in-law, Elizabeth (Hutson) Phenix, one brother, Ronn Houser and wife, Nina of Rolla, MO; three sisters: Tammy Vaught and husband, Harrison of Holt Summit, MO; Debi Tillman and husband, Frank of Rogers, AR and Missy Oliver and husband, Rick of Daytona, FL and brothers and sisters in law: Steve Phenix and wife Sarah and Shawn Phenix all of Steelville, Mo., several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

She is preceded in death by her father, Raymond George Houser and father-in-law Robert Phenix.

She was a loving and caring wife and mother.  She had a wonderful sense of humor.  She always came through with the perfect line that would leave everybody laughing.  She loved spending time with her family.  In her spare time, she enjoyed  her craft projects. She was a registered nurse at the Phelps County Regional Medical Center for three years.  Her determination was admirable; she held off one of her important medical procedures to ensure that she would finish her nursing classes for the semester.  She was determined to achieve her goal to become a nurse;  she did not let sickness and the many medical procedures stop her dreams. She received the National Daisy Award for her excellent service in the nursing field.  She loved nursing, and her colleagues and patients loved her. Before receiving her Register Nursing Degree from East Central College, she worked as a licensed professional nurse for three years. She was a member at the Trinity Pentecostal Bibleway Fellowship.  She enjoyed singing songs with her mother during church services. She taught herself how to play the drums so that she could accompany songs during the church service.
