Charles L. Miller Sr., of Rolla, Mo. passed away on Wednesday May 24, 2017 at his home in Rolla, Mo. He was 80 years, 4 months and 24 days of age.

 

Charles L. Miller Sr., was born on December 30, 1936 in St. Louis, Mo. to his parents: Murphy Linwood and Edith Hallie May Miller.

 

Charles L. Miller Sr., was united in marriage to Dolores (Dee) Macovey on December 28, 1960 in Waterloo, Illinois.

 

Charles L. Miller Sr., is survived by his wife Dee Miller of Rolla; daughters: Mary Beth Stroup and husband Gene of St. James, Mo., Melissa (Mitzi) Birkner and husband Bob of St. James, Mo., Rebecca Abbott and husband Brian of New Haven, Mo., sons: Jeffrey Lee Miller and wife Michelle of Sonoma Valley, CA., Charles Miller Jr. and wife Christi of Olean, Mo., William Miller and wife Lisa of Salem, Mo.,and Theodore Miller and wife Sara of San Antonio, Tx. Along with grandchildren: Michael and Joshua Miller of Sonoma Valley, Ca., Donovan Smith and Victoria Stroup of St. James, Mo., Jamie Gilmore and husband Jason of Sedalia, Mo., Abby Miller and Ethan Miller of Olean, Mo., Amy Miller, Dustin and wife Morgan, and Brittany Miller of Salem, Mo., Jacob and Mackenzie Wilson of New Haven, Mo., and Henry Miller of San Antonio, Tx.; along with great grandchildren: Camille Miller of Sonoma, Ca.; Amie, Jakob and Justin Gilmore of Sedalia, Mo., Logan Walker of Salem, Mo. and Toby and Callie Hayes of Salem, Mo., along with special friends Roger and Crystal Skaggs.

 

Preceding in death is his beloved Pet: Snoopy; parents: Murphy Linwood and Edith Hallie May Miller; sister: Linda K. Staples; brother: Garrett (Gary) Lee Miller in infancy; granddaughter: Katherine Elizabeth (Kati) Neidert.

 

Charles L. Miller Sr.,was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers of East St. Louis. He was a Police Officer in Washington Park, Illinois., He served as Assistant Fire Chief of French Village Section of Fairview Heights, Illinois, and was one of the first EMT’s in the State of Missouri. After the family moved from the St. Louis area he worked for the Salem Hospital as an EMT, and also a Police Officer for the City of Salem.

 

He loved the outdoors and loved to farm and loved to garden. Chuck considered himself a good squirrel hunter and was known for his delicious BBQ. He was a great fan of John Wayne and loved to read western novels. He loved his family and his special grandchildren and great grandchildren. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

 

Charles L. Miller Sr. will lie in state from 4-8 p.m. Friday May 26, 2017 at the Jones Funeral Home in St. James.

 

Funeral Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday May 27, 2017 at the Jones Funeral Home in St. James with Billy Miller officiating. Pallbearers will be: Donovan Smith, Roger Skaggs, Brian Abbott, Dustin Miller, Jacob Wilson, Ethan Miller, Bob Birkner and Jason Gilmore

Burial will be in the family plot at the St. James Cemetery. Memorial are suggested to the Shriner's Crippled Children. On-Line Condolences at www.jonesfunerals.com
